EMERGING CORE STRATEGY FOR DACORUM AND EAST HEMEL HEMPSTEAD AREA ACTION PLAN CONSULTATION

Comments on all of these documents need to be sent to Dacorum Borough Council by 4.45 p.m. on Friday 28 August, 2009

The Borough Council is undertaking the next phase of the consultation process on the future of Dacorum and all residents are being asked to comment on several documents. This will help the Borough Council to make decisions over the next 12 months to shape our Borough and more importantly our village to meet the Government requirements.

The first document is called the ‘Emerging Core Strategy’ paper. The first part sets out the intended structure and coverage of the Borough Council’s Core Strategy and asks for your feedback upon each of the key themes. The second part comprises a series of ‘Spatial Strategies’ for each of the Borough’s town and large villages, including one covering Bovingdon, plus a strategy for the Countryside. These set out the draft vision for how we want these places to be in 20+ year’s time and ask a series of questions about the scale and location of new development, what it is important to protect and enhance in each area etc. A direct link to the Spatial Strategy covering Bovingdon is http://consult.dacorum.gov.uk.

The second document that the Borough Council is consulting upon is the East Hemel Hempstead Area Action Plan. As its title suggests, this document takes a more detailed look at the Maylands Business Area in Hemel Hempstead, plus adjacent land (some of which falls within the St Albans Green Belt). It seeks to take forward the principles set out in the Maylands Masterplan and also asks for feedback on a range of other issues - such as proposals for a new town stadium, options for planning around Buncefield, the need for additional cemetery provision, a Green Energy Centre and park and ride facility. Many of these issues are obviously of significance not just to residents of Hemel Hempstead, but across the Borough.
