Keep an eye on the TV series of Midsomer Murders for several shots of Flaunden, which has been used for many episodes. Faithful unto Death, Orchis Fatalis, Dance with the Dead, Midsomer Life and the current, Made to Measure Murders featuring Flaunden as ‘Milton Cross’.

Part 1 (out next month) begins as Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the secret to Voldemort’s immortality and destruction-the Horcruxes. Bovingdon’s David at Hyde Park

David Somerset Barnes, from Bovingdon, headlines a demonstration at Hyde Park. The protest was five times as large as the organisers had expected.

David began his music career young, lying about his age to DJ R’n’B and Hip Hop music in local pubs (Halfway and Dragon) and clubs. He was then accepted at music college on the strength of his singing ability, whilst there learning piano and guitar. After joining his first covers band Rocking Chair, he went on to create his own band The Somerset Barnes Project, writing and playing laid back blues influenced R’n’B and performing across the UK and New York . David is also a regular on the London cabaret scene, performing at The Pigalle, The Soho Revue Bar and Madame JoJos . He is currently appearing with The Somerset Barnes Project, soul bands Funkify and In colour.

Bovingdon Library was presented with a bottle of champagne after just beating Parish Electrical  to the winning post with their beautiful floral displays.

The hanging baskets competition, organised by Bovingdon Horticultural Society, see BHS on this page, was judged by Terry Simmonds, of Garden Scene in Tower Hill, Chipperfield, on Thursday, July 22.

Baskets were supplied to shopkeepers across the village courtesy of the society and a £400 grant given by Bovingdon Parish Council.
