Bovingdon Care is a village-based volunteer service for the elderly, disabled and those not able to use the bus services to get them to where they need to go. It is primarily intended to cover visits to doctors, dentists, hospitals, and other welfare appointments, such as day centres and clubs, but could also include shopping and even visits to friends if we have a willing volunteer driver. All we ask is a reasonable amount of advance notice and that you cover our costs such as parking and a small donation based on 45p per mile for other expenses.
To use the service, call our Careline on 07376 832999 between 9.30am and 12.30pm on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and you will be connected directly to the coordinator on duty that day. Tell them your requirements then they will arrange a volunteer driver for you and phone you back with the details. Outside our normal hours, or if the line is busy or unavailable, you can leave a voice message or send a text message and we will deal with it as soon as possible. Transport is normally available every weekday during reasonable hours. However, if you have an unusual requirement, perhaps at less sociable hours or maybe further afield, please do ask us as we may have an available volunteer.

We need more volunteers, especially drivers!!! The commitment is low (1 or 2 duties a month, say) and drivers choose whether or not to accept run requests. If you are interested in joining us please call me, Richard Gardener, on (01442) 833674, 07860 811154 or email rmgardener@gmail.com
