Little Hay Golf Complex

You may be aware of the planning to modernise Little Hay Golf Complex, which includes construction of a multi-shot driving range and water features. Construction traffic is planned to be via Upper Bourne End Lane (from Macdonalds services on the A41).

This will effect access to the properties and businesses at the top of the lane and Runways Farm.

Construction traffic will comprise the importation of recovered soils brought to the site using tipper wagons.

The duration of the construction phase is anticipated to be in the order of 18 months with about 420 deliveries of material expected per week.

During the summer holidays theĀ  paintball site also has some 300 cars every day.

Thanks to Don Crofts for this cutting from June 1946. Full extract see Pictorial section.

It goes on .. ”During the storm the Vicar of Bovingdon, the Rev. Kenneth Hawkins, died suddenly after taking Evensong in the village church.

”He offered a lift home to one of his parishioners. On the way back to the vicarage a sudden clap of thunder made him feel ill. He went to the house of Dr. Burnett, where he later died.”
