Hemel Hempstead's Luke Donald

Local, Luke Donald is the new world number one after beating Lee Westwood in a dramatic play-off at the PGA Championship at Wentworth.
Donald, was born in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, both him and his brother Christian played junior golf for Hazlemere and Beaconsfield Clubs. Donald was the champion at Beaconsfield twice winning the first time just at the age of 15.
Donald turned Pro in 2001, and just a year later won the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, and has gone on to have a number of Tour wins. In 2009 his brother Christian, who now caddies for Paul Casey caddied for Luke.

Major works for Bovingdon

RESURFACING works on Chesham Road in Bovingdon are scheduled to take place before the end of March.

 A Hertfordshire Highways spokesman said: “A section of the road surface by the roundabout will be planed off and replaced.

The remainder of the road between the High Street and the county boundary will be repaired, with cracks in the surface repaired and failed trenches restored.

Box Lane will also be closed for patching within the next few months.

Demolition Of The Bull Pub

Plans have been put in to Dacorum Borough Council for the demolition of ‘The Bull’ Pub (and barn) at the bottom of Bovingdon High Street, and the development of the site to provide 7 dwellings.  There would be 3 two bedroom apartments and 1 one bedroom studio flat in a two storey building on the Church Street/Chipperfield Road corner, linked over an archway to a terrace of 3 two bedroom cottages along Church Street.

Anyone else noticed the filming location signs around the village during the last couple of months -SH2?

The yet untitled Sherlock Holmes Sequel may be filming on the airfield – be prepared for some unexpected Bangs! during the night.

“Sherlock Holmes 2” will be showing its shape earlier than it was expected. Rumour has it the film started principal photography in December 2010, Jude Law has revealed that he will possibly be acting as Dr. John Watson once more.

 When asked about the detail of the storyline, Jude Law claimed he still has no idea. “I don’t know yet where the story will go, but there are a lot of Sherlock Holmes novels to choose from,” he stated.

Anyone got more info or pictures? I hear The Bell has been entertaining the crew for breakfast etc… Leave a comment or two.
