Smell most foul?

For some time now we have all had to tolerate a smell most foul, (or should that be Fowl?) depending which way the wind is blowing.

The Environment Agency are aware of the issue and are now diligently monitoring it. They have supplied a hotline number for people to ring. Should you smell a nasty niff in the air, please ring the free phone number: 0800 80 70 60. If you don’t want to give your name, you can state that you wish to remain anonymous.

The hotline support team will ask you your postcode and various questions including:

Where do you think the smell is coming from?

How would you rate the smell on a scale of 1 – 6?

How would you describe the smell?

What is the weather like (sunny, cloudy, overcast, still, breeze, windy)?

Have you had to close your windows?

How far are you from the source of the smell?

The hotline support team will then offer to give you a call log reference number. We would be very grateful if you could note it down and post it back on this page, so we can keep a log.  Don’t worry the Environment Agency will never give out anyone’s names or personal information.

Please kindly pass the Environment Agency hotline number to friends and neighbours, who may not have internet access, or be aware that the situation is diligently being monitored by a professional body who can effect change.

Drifting

Learn to Drift

Drifting is something many aspire to be able to do however they are not sure where to start, but you can try at Bovingdon Airfield.

Learn2Drift  hold Drift days aimed at different skill levels, so you can learn with people of similar levels of skills. They use a mix of theory including a safety and technique briefing, and practical exercises to help you develop the skills required to control a car going sideways. – Sounds like Bovingdon High Street on a Saturday night!

Open to the public (booking required) as well as  private events for groups and companies.

Did anyone else look at The London 2012 Olympic Torch and think that it looks like a giant cheese grater?

Here’s how to make your own torch Blue Peter style:

What you need:
Kitchen roll tube
Toilet roll tube
Lots of tin foil
Yellow and orange paper or card
Glue and sellotape

Bovingdon Airfield?

I am pleased to correct this story (see replies) as ” Bovingdon’s New Airfield” – the heading was ofcourse incorrect – it  is not a New Airfield,  it is not Bovingdon’s New Airfield its an old airfield and any application is not to re-open the airfield, but for continued use as an airfield and not as implied earlier. I applogise for any confusion on this matter.

An application for a Certificate of Lawfulness has been made by the owners of Berry Farm  and a decision is rumoured within the next couple of weeks.

BOVINGDON PRE-SCHOOL

BOVINGDON PRE-SCHOOL OPEN AFTERNOON
SATURDAY 19TH MAY 2012
2.00-4.00

We are holding our Pre-School Open Afternoon on Saturday 19th May 2012 and you are warmly invited to come along and join us.

The Pre-School will be opening its doors from 2pm until 4pm to anyone who is interested in their child attending the Pre-School so please come along and meet us in our newly refurbished surroundings.

Bov pre-school logoThe hall will be set up as it would be during a typical Pre-School morning session and you can have fun with your child, taking part in lots of activities including dressing up, arts and crafts and outside play.  This is an excellent opportunity to have a look around the refurbished setting, meet our key staff and Pre-School committee members and ask as many questions as you like. Your children are free to play, explore and make some new friends. Tea, coffee and cakes will be served throughout the afternoon.

At Bovingdon Pre-School, we welcome children from the age of 2 years during our morning sessions and, by following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, provide a quality experience that supports the care, learning and development of each child as an individual.

As part of our child assessment we produce learning journals for each child, which are full of photos, pictures, artwork and commentary, recording the learning and development of every child during their time with us.  These enable us to identify particular interests, provide encouragement and plan our sessions so they really appeal to our children.  Examples of our learning journals will be available for you to view.

If you have any friends or relatives who may be interested in registering their child for Pre-School then please bring them along. To register your interest in attending please email admin@bovingdonpre-school.co.uk or telephone the above number and let us show you what our Pre-School can offer.
